Upcoming Events and Seasonal Sports Schedules

 

Sunday, September 24
Art in the Park in Francis Park along the Lily Pond from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Many artists, restaurants/food vendors, bands, other organizations and more are participating in Art in the Park. The Evangelism & Communications Ministry is coordinating Hope UCC’s booth which will be on the north end of the Lily Pond in the middle. Our booth will share information on our denomination and our congregation.

There are several ways you can help with this event. The booth will be staffed by two or three volunteers at a time working two-hour shifts from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. At 8:00 a.m. we need volunteers to meet at church to load tables and chairs and transfer them to our location in the park. At 6:00 p.m. we need volunteers to meet at our booth in the park to load the tables and chairs and return them to church. Please contact Gary Bogener for more information.

 

Sunday, September 24
Youth Mission Trip Stockholders Meeting in Fellowship Hall at 6:00 p.m.

The youth will be reporting on the amazing things they saw and learned on their trip to the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota. All mission trip stockholders are invited to attend the dinner.

 

Tuesday, September 27
“Parables” Bible Study in the Chapel Narthex at 7:00 p.m.
In addition to our weekly Adult Sunday School classes, we offer monthly Tuesday evening gatherings for in-depth studies of the Bible and our faith. “A parable can help us comprehend God better, know ourselves more realistically, change what we value, and deal with people in healthier relationships” (author Richard J. St. Louis Association of the United Church of Christ Fall Business Meeting at 8:00 a.m.
The meeting will be held at Glory to Glory Christian Church, United Church of Christ,
1919 S. Seventh St., St. Louis, MO 63104. Registration begins at 8:00 a.m. They plan to adjourn at 1:00 p.m.

Church Basement Ladies at The Playhouse at Westport Plaza at 4:00 p.m.
A group from Hope is going to The Playhouse at Westport Plaza to see “Church Basement Ladies.” We will go to dinner afterward. Please contact Bethel Hale for more information.

 

Sunday, October 1
Lunch and Literature Book Discussion in the Friendly Room from 11:45 a.m. to 1:00 p.m

Join fellow avid readers for an informal discussion of “Belgravia” by Julian Fellowes (creator of Downton Abbey). Participants are welcome to bring a sack lunch as we gather around the table to eat and talk.

 

Sunday, October 1
Metro St. Louis Crop Hunger Walk at Eden Seminary at 6:00 p.m.
Sponsored by Church World Service to raise funds to end hunger at home and around the world, CROP stands for “Communities Responding to Overcome Poverty.” 25% of the funds raised stay in the St. Louis area to benefit hunger-fighting organizations. The other 75% is distributed through Church World Service and goes to combat hunger and to provide development assistance throughout the world. Please plan to participate as a walker or sponsor or both! The route wraps around the Eden quadrangle and campus. Registration begins at 5:30 p.m. Click here for more information.

Stay for the CROP Concert at 7:00 p.m. in the Wehrli Chapel (or you may just come for the concert). It consists of the 6th Annual Eden Festival of Psalms. It features Richard Bruxvoort Colligan, Christopher Grundy, Paul Vasile and the Eden Choir, Eliza Lynn, Sarah McCann, and more! Bring a canned or boxed food good to donate to our local partners.

 

Wednesday, October 4
Breakfast Ministry Work Day at Epiphany United Church of Christ at 7:40 a.m.
Epiphany United Church of Christ in the Benton Park Neighborhood of South City serves a free breakfast to low income families every Wednesday morning. The first Wednesday of every month Hope UCC supplies the volunteers and covers the cost of food. The morning begins with food preparation at 7:40 a.m., breakfast at 8:30 a.m. and ends around 10:15 a.m. after kitchen clean up.

 

Saturday, October 7
Hope UCC’s Got Talent in Fellowship Hall at 6:00 p.m.
Enjoy fellowship and witness the God-given talents of some of our church members. Dinner is at 6:00 p.m. and the show starts at 7:00. So we can plan the meal appropriately, there’s a sign-up sheet on the bulletin board outside the church office. If you’d like to help with dinner, please contact Susie Richmann or call the church office.

 

Tuesday, October 10
Lunch Bunch Group Meets at Square One Brewery at 11:30 a.m.
The Lunch Bunch group meets for lunch and fellowship. All are welcome! We carpool from church at 11:10 a.m. or meet at the restaurant at 11:30. The restaurant address is 1727 Park Ave., St. Louis, MO 63104. There’s a sign-up sheet on the bulletin board outside the church office or call the office if you would like to participate. Questions?
